E.R. Lewis Construction Company, Inc is a company in a constant state of evolution, just like Greenville and Pitt County. Founded in 1959 by the late Eldridge R. Lewis and his wife, Velma, the company started as a solution for client’s growing needs for earthmoving services in eastern North Carolina. With just two dump trucks and a dragline, Mr. Lewis began to dig ditches and irrigation ponds for local farmers. Over the years, this simple agricultural site work transformed into a company which handles nearly all aspects of industrial, residential and commercial construction.
Clients can count on decades of experience from this family owned and operated business. In 1964, Harvey Lewis joined his father in the company and worked his way from a laborer and bulldozer operator to the sole owner and president of E.R. Lewis Construction. He carries on the family tradition of commitment to excellence and moves forward with a clear vision for the future of the company.
E.R. Lewis Construction Company’s incredible success is due to its embrace of long standing relationships and business philosophies combined with the latest technology such as GPS grade management and 3-D modeling. As clients’ needs in the Greenville area have grown, so has E.R. Lewis Construction grown to meet their expectations. Looking at Greenville and the surrounding areas, it is obvious that our clients share the respect for a blend of tradition and technology which carries the company beyond its 50th birthday.

Since E.R. Lewis Construction is a family company, for three generations now, it believes in giving back to the community that fosters its success. Over the years, the company has contributed both funds and services to Greenville’s local communities including Ayden and Simpson. East Carolina University and Pitt Community College also have benefited from the dedication to service found at E.R. Lewis Construction. We have played an important role in the creation of clinics, after-school facilities, churches, volunteer fire departments, Boys and Girls Clubs and regional parks. We are proud to have recently contributed to the development of the James D. Bernstein Community Health Center and to have the university baseball field, Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium, named for us.
Pitt County has relied on the wide range of services offered by E.R. Lewis Construction for almost 50 years, as have our clients. We have the experienced personnel (many of whom are 20-30 year veterans of the company), the equipment and the knowledge to keep our clients' projects on budget and on schedule.
